Charlotte Smith works in The National Archives' Legal Records Team, specialising in British and imperial legal history in the long 19th and 20th centuries.

Having researched and taught in law and legal history for many years before taking up her current post, Charlotte is particularly interested in the treatment of modern court records within the public records system, questions of archival justice, and efforts to explore new ways of understanding, using, and making court records available.
